Things You Should Know
Buying a metal building can be a bit tricky sometimes. Here are a few things you should know:

When purchasing a building, make sure the manufacturer is supplying you all of the parts and components. Many companies will offer a low price, then when the building is delivered you find a list of bolts, screws, fasteners, mastic and other items you must purchase at your local building supply or hardware store to erect your building. This can cost hundreds of dollars and on larger buildings thousands.

Buying a building is a lot like buying a car. Some companies have a base price that sounds good but the accessories are extremely expensive (doors, windows, insulation, etc.). Look at the total price including freight costs when making your final decision.

Most if not all counties or towns have code requirements for buildings. Depending on how you intend to use the building (storage, home workshop, retail store, warehouse, etc.) you may or may not require a permit to build or have to meet the local codes. Atlas offers a variety of building types and styles. Many are designed and engineered to meet your codes while others are strong and durable but do not meet the same criteria as a commercial building. A good example is the difference between building a hospital and a hay storage shelter.

Be sure your building provider has in-house customer service, technical support and engineering. Many companies are distributors or dealers who will give you a toll-free number to call if you have a problem, including storage of materials, damaged items or misfabrications. This number often turns out to be the actual manufacturer who may not even know who you are as they sold the building to the dealer. This can result in poor service and in some cases failure to correct your problem.
